RATING
The rating of a film gives the average person a quick review on how good a movie is and whether it is worth their money, this can be found on many website including rotten tomato, IMDb and Metacritic. These website review movies and give them a score, normally 1 to 5 stars or a score out of a 100, this is used worldwide by people to find out what films are good and what are not, this means that it is really important to get a good rating if a film wants to do well in the box office.
METACRITIC
Metacritic was created in 1999 and is a website that compiles reviews and gives them an overall score. This website is used daily by lots of people to find out which films and TV shows are highly rated. The Metacritic sight is highly respected and so a film/TV show needs a hight score if it wants people to watch/buy it. On the website the top 5 horror films are;
1) Wreckmeister Harmonies 2) Repulsion 3) Eyes without a face 4) Son of Saul 5) Jaws. The absence of any slasher films on this list showed there was a gap in the market for this sub genre. |
IMDb is a review website which was created in 1990 and is a Movie and TV review site, IMDb is known as one of the best review site and having a good review on the website is necessary if a movie wants to succeed. On IMDb the top 3 horror films are; 1) Psycho 2) Alien 3) The Shining As with Metracritic, there are no slasher films in their top rated. This further enforced our view that there is a gap in the market for a successful slasher film which is why this is the sub-genre we are going to make. |
