The Do's and Don'ts of Media
DONT'S
- Take pictures- Make sure you turn the camera onto record mode.
- Don't use zoom- Instead re-record the scene using multiple shots.
- Dont change your plot/ narrative during filming- This will cause filming to become more complicated and will affect your end product negatively.
- Don't break role on camera- This will break the mood of the scene and will make your group have to re-shoot.
DO'S
- Risk assessment- This is needed so that your group knows what to do and what not to do.
- Think about shots- Use a variety.
- Film clips multiple times- using different techniques.
- Always use a tripod- to make sure the footage is usable
- Always consider lighting- E.G if its a horror, use a darker lighting.
- Use a Microphone with the Big cameras- this is make the audio high quality.
- Consider casting- Use the right people for a given role E.g don't use somebody small for a scary killer
- Always stick to the brief- so that your group is on target
- Avoid looking directly at the camera.
- Accurately frame the shot- Don't have somebody half out of frame.
- Always consider plot and narrative- So your production fits with the brief
