Our Cast
Making the right casting choices is vital in producing a successful film. We chose our actors after a lot of consideration over what we wanted to represent. There is an absence of female actors in our trailer and this is because we wanted to avoid the stereotype of women being the only victims of cults. It was important for the cast to represent 'normal' people because of the nature of the film; we wanted to show that cults could reach anyone.
Alpha
We chose to cast Joseph Broady as the killer (main antagonist) in 'The Sanctuary'. Before casting, we did some research into cults and what made the leaders so appealing. Joseph is tall with dark hair and fits the 'stereotypical' characteristics of a leader. In order for 'The Sanctuary' to be believable we needed the antagonist to appeal to audiences and come across as trustworthy. |
Sigma
We chose to cast Matthew Hodkinson as the false hero in our filming. The full film would reveal later his attempt to help Beta was actually just a trick, leading to a huge betrayal. Matthew as an outward look of innocence , as the group looks to portray, yet inside his character is actually evil. This contrast was perfect for the role. |
EVERYONE ELSE
The rest of our cast were selectively chosen. The cast are mainly male and this was a conscious decision to promote the main 'victims' of the cult. We wanted the later revelation in the film to be that the group recruit young men as they believe men are the dominant sex and are more fitting to carry out their work. We would like to thank everyone who participated in the filming process.
