Font Choices
Font choices were an important aspect across our three media platforms as they can help to create a sense of synergy and continuity. Choosing the right font can also help the marketing and branding process. It can grab the viewers attention on a poster or magazine which can in turn make them want to find out more about the project. It was important for us as a group to use the correct font for our work.
The Trailer
Our trailer includes various cutscenes which include reviews and titles. We wanted a grainy font to represent the gritty, evil side to The Sanctuary. The white on black is representative of the good the which is outwardly portrayed and the evil reality.
|
The trailer ends with the title of the film. Our approach was to be deliberately minimalist and have the font simple. Our trailer is filmed so that the audience does not have too much revealed to them. The font was chosen to also be paliner and more mysterious. With the addition to the white rose logo on the side, it all adds to the mystery of who The Sanctuary are.

Fonts We Didn't Use and Why
During the creative process their were several fonts we tried out in order to come to the conclusion of which ones to go for. The trial and error process is essential for any project as it is always about perfecting the product. We went through several fonts in order to get to the ones we chose. We used popular font website DaFont to look for potentials we liked.
Real Horror was a consideration as we were drawn to its sketched, grainy design. However we changed our mind, as it made the group look evil from the beginning when the idea was for them to hide behind a metaphorical mask before revealing how evil they really are.
|
Quiet Horror Story was also a possibility due to its evil look. We compared its design to that of something from an evil forest as the writing as the sharp, thin, wiry look of tree branches and vines. However, we opted for minimalist again as it didn't reveal too much about the group.

The Poster
Much like in our title of the trailer, our poster was designed to be deliberately minimalist. Sometimes something simple creates a bigger effect. The font chosen was made white as it firstly reflects well on the on the background with the good and evil that The Sanctuary has related to it. We get more of an incite into the group further down the poster with the picture but the first thing at the top we wanted to be simple in order to build up to the more frightening image behind it.
The Magazine
The magazine cover was far more direct in what we wanted to show about The Sanctuary. The title on our page we picked a font for, similar to that in our trailer. The harsh edges and black outline of the white font was used to make the title stand out more. You can also see the Empire logo has been used to create the most realistic magazine possible with the exact same red font. Areas of the magazine include a mixture of red and white text in order to fit the colour scheme
